Backpacking Ellicott

Embark on a three-day, two-night backpacking adventure with Venture Unknown to the pristine wilderness of the Chattooga River. This unforgettable journey takes you to Ellicott Rock, the legendary marker where North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia converge.

The Plan

Day 1 Friday

Rally at trailhead with all you will need for the weekend on your back. Head along the banks of the Chattooga River, while taking in the views, the rustling of the leaves under your feet, and maybe even visit a waterfall. Get down a bit until we find a river side campsite for the night. Pitch camp, get a fire going and enjoy the warmth of friendship.

Day 2 Saturday

Pack up camp and begin our 4 mile hike to discover Ellicott Rock. This is an elusive historic landmark that Im determined to find this time! Are yall determined?? Because I am! Once we find this very cool rock. We will quickly begin to look for night 2 camp spot. Once the fire is going and a cocktail or two shared, we will enjoy a night under the stars while the river rushes by.

Day 3 Sunday

Up bright and early for our final leg back out, ending our trip where we started. Celebrating the a weekend of true adventure and discovery!

Distance / Difficulty??

• The overall distance is 8 miles

• This trail is very moderate with minimal accents or declines.

• This is an in and out trail

Communications

Before the trip:

All communications will either be through the private Patreon FB page and the event chat that will be created a couple weeks prior to rally day.

During the trip:

Once on the trail we may use GMRS handhelds. Sean will carry a satellite communicator for safety as well.

What to bring??

• The bare minimum! Remember you gotta carry this stuff!

• You will need 2 days min of water or a way to filter it from the river (Like a Lifestraw)

• 2 days of backpacking type food

• Snacks

• Ground tent or hammock unless sleeping cowboy style in a sleeping bag on the ground

• Sleeping bag (temps will be mild)

• Raincoat (Just in case)

• Backpack of some sort to carry your belongings

• Flashlight or headlamp

• Sean will bring tools to get fire going

• Trekking Poles are helpful but optional

• Good footwear with ankle support

• First aid kit ( Sean will also have his)

• Swimwear....... Swimming galore!!!
